Abstract:

The selection of ear of surgery and electrode array with optimal coverage are crucial factors in cases with inner ear malformations. Here we are profiling the test battery approach followed in preoperative surgical planning, optimal electrode selection, electrode placement analysis and fitting using radiology information in malformed cases. The current study is a case series of cochlear implantation done in inner ear malformations. We were able to obtain a comprehensive radiological and audiological profile of all three patients. The Trans-tympanic Electric Auditory Brainstem Response has been found to be an effective tool in identifying the ear of implantation. OTOPLAN and 3D slicer software were found to be effective in optimal electrode selection.
